You will find here provisional writings and images, that is to say that they exist while waiting to be changed soon.
They sway their talent and courage in the void, stand 10 meters off the ground by the strength of their wrists, catch a fragile body in flight, change their suit in the blink of an eye. Feats, glitter, words, trumpets, tricks and drums … But what’s the point? Cymbal!
This question, they ask themselves seriously and try to answer their best.
So, come see!
For us, circus is, at first, doing (and repeating) something extra-ordinary with ones body. Then, behind the presentation of a surprising act or an « exploit » there will appear other « topics » that concern the life of every human being : death, love, the time that passes, the search of the meaning of life. In this duo, what rises as a topic behind the exploit is without a doubt the matters of connection and love.
Because love and circus are…
…sensual : the body is a transmitter of emotion.
…risky : it’s scary and can intoxicate, invade, make suffer.
…engaging : individuality is in the service of an union. .
..complicated and often enclosed by stereotypes.
…rooted in the reality : and one can not seek a truth …only what the people make of them.*

The suspended and vertical rope was introduced in circus programs in the second half of the 19th century. However it is not an emblematic apparatus of the old circus programs.
For a long time the rope was simply used to join another aerial apparatus and rope acts were presented exclusively by women. They were often numbers of complement, interlude during the disassembly of the cages protecting the public of the beasts or second number of the couples, thus guaranteeing an additional income: her, hung by a handle to the rope; him, turning her from below. The contemporary circus has recently renewed this discipline and has also contributed to its masculinization.
This creation opens a new field for experimentations on a rope. Viivi and Fragan are leaving aside the solitude imposed by their normal practice by sharing their discipline. In this particular cohabitation, the embraces replace the knots. The acrobats fly, catch themselves and each other and seek for a balance. And in this path between the bodies and the rope where the tenderness is the way to survive, the two acrobats invent their own language in the air.

Relative and changing short duration
Viivi & Fragan is a duo which can be programmed in a composed evenings formed of other relative short forms.
The show plays preferably outdoors from May to September. It is possible to adapt it inside, but the set up of the crossbar is COMPULSORY (MINIMUM height 10m). For an inside set-up, please contact Adrien Maheux.
Flat ground, free of any aerial obstacle (cables, trees, …)
Absence of underground network.
Anchor points of the crossbar by rigging stakes about 1m deep.
Circular layout (to be specified according to the place with us)
SON – circular broadcasting system (to be specified)
LIGHT – in progress: provide a 32A tri electrical outlet (3P+N+T) next to the backstage right anchor point, and a 50m 5-point DMX cable
